當(dāng)?shù)貢r間4月30日，美國國家科學(xué)院（NAS）公布了最新院士名單，共有100名美國科學(xué)家和25名外籍院士，以表彰他們在原創(chuàng)性研究方面的杰出成就。

其中有四位華人：中國科學(xué)院院士、中國疾病預(yù)防控制中心主任、中國科學(xué)院微生物研究所教授、病原微生物學(xué)家、免疫學(xué)家高福和Shirley M. Tilghman ，普林斯頓大學(xué)終身講座教授。結(jié)構(gòu)生物學(xué)家顏寧當(dāng)選美國科學(xué)院外籍院士；哈佛大學(xué)工程與應(yīng)用科學(xué)學(xué)院教授索志剛和洛克菲勒大學(xué)教授、霍華德休斯醫(yī)學(xué)研究所研究員陳玨當(dāng)選美國科學(xué)院院士。

當(dāng)?shù)貢r間4月30日晚，顏寧本人在微博表達(dá)了對這一最新榮譽(yù)的想法，稱自己在鏡子前練習(xí)了很長時間，“備受尊敬”“做不到”如果我做不到的話?！彼€提到，他后來才意識到，“今天被炸后我花了五分鐘才明白發(fā)生了什么?！?

確實(shí)，發(fā)表過無數(shù)文章、獲得過諸多榮譽(yù)的顏寧還不到42歲。

顏寧畢業(yè)于清華大學(xué)，獲學(xué)士學(xué)位，2000年出國深造，在普林斯頓大學(xué)完成博士生涯，并師從著名結(jié)構(gòu)生物學(xué)家、現(xiàn)任西華大學(xué)校長施一公教授繼續(xù)從事博士后工作。湖大學(xué)。 2007年，年僅30歲的顏寧從普林斯頓大學(xué)回國，回到本科就讀的清華大學(xué)任教。他成為當(dāng)時清華大學(xué)最年輕的博士生導(dǎo)師。

回國10年來，顏寧的研究工作主要集中在膜轉(zhuǎn)運(yùn)蛋白結(jié)構(gòu)與機(jī)制相關(guān)的生物學(xué)研究。在國際頂級期刊發(fā)表多篇論文。

回國四年后，2011年，顏寧獲得了中國生物物理學(xué)最高獎項——貝時章獎。顏寧隨后榮獲第九屆中國青年女科學(xué)家獎、2012年度科技創(chuàng)新人物、譚家楨生命科學(xué)創(chuàng)新獎。

2014年，37歲的顏寧帶領(lǐng)的團(tuán)隊首次成功分析了人類關(guān)鍵葡萄糖轉(zhuǎn)運(yùn)蛋白GLUT1的晶體結(jié)構(gòu)和工作機(jī)制，揭示了葡萄糖這一地球生物體最重要的能量來源是如何進(jìn)入細(xì)胞。顏寧的成就被認(rèn)為擊敗了近50年來所有研究其結(jié)構(gòu)的科學(xué)家。

此外，顏寧于2017年8月增選為中國科學(xué)院院士預(yù)選候選人，也是當(dāng)年157名候選人中最年輕的一位。但當(dāng)年11月底公布的最終名單中，顏寧并未入選。

那就是，2017年，回國10年的顏寧決定離開清華大學(xué)，接受了普林斯頓大學(xué)向她伸出的橄欖枝。此舉在當(dāng)年五一假期前后引起了國內(nèi)的廣泛關(guān)注。外界猜測甚多，甚至有“憤怒出走”等聲音。不過，顏寧本人后來否認(rèn)了外界的猜測，并表示“我害怕自己會留在一個環(huán)境中”。時間長了，你可能還停留在自己的方式上而不自知；改變環(huán)境就是給自己一些新的壓力，刺激自己獲得靈感，希望在科學(xué)上取得新的突破。 ”

顏寧目前是普林斯頓大學(xué)分子生物學(xué)系第一位Shirley M. Tilghman終身教授。雪莉·蒂爾曼（Shirley Tillman）是世界著名的分子生物學(xué)家，也是普林斯頓大學(xué)建校200 多年來第一位女校長。

顏寧赴美后依然保持著“高生產(chǎn)力”。 2018年6月底至9月初，顏寧團(tuán)隊僅用時70天，在頂級學(xué)術(shù)期刊《科學(xué)》上發(fā)表了三篇論文。

值得一提的是，就在當(dāng)選美國國家科學(xué)院外籍院士的前一天，顏寧4月29日在微博慶祝自己剛剛獲得“魏茨曼女性與科學(xué)獎”，當(dāng)時提到，“我剛剛意識到這可能是我獲得過的最重要的獎項?！彼嘈弄勴椀姆至俊霸谟谶^去的獲獎?wù)摺薄?

美國國家科學(xué)院成立于1863年，是一個由美國著名科學(xué)家組成的非盈利、非政府組織。當(dāng)選科學(xué)院院士是美國乃至世界的最高學(xué)術(shù)榮譽(yù)之一。候選人不需要自己申請，而是基于他們在原創(chuàng)性研究中的杰出和持續(xù)貢獻(xiàn)。新院士由現(xiàn)任院士在每年四月舉行的美國科學(xué)院年會上投票選出。外籍院士沒有投票權(quán)。每年新選舉100名美國籍院士，最多選舉25名外籍院士。

目前，美國國家科學(xué)院共有院士2347人，其中外籍院士約487人。截至2018年，已有190人獲得諾貝爾獎。其中，截至2018年，已有100多名華人和美籍華人科學(xué)家當(dāng)選美國科學(xué)院院士和外籍院士，其中包括華人諾貝爾獎獲得者李政道、楊振寧、丁肇中等。
